Yeast infection (candidiasis)

Description:

Candidiasis, also known as a yeast infection, is a fungal infection caused by the overgrowth of a type of fungus called Candida. Candida is normally present in small amounts in the human body, but an overgrowth can occur due to various factors, such as a weakened immune system, the use of antibiotics, hormonal changes, or diabetes. Candidiasis can affect various parts of the body, including the mouth, throat, and genital area (When candidiasis occurs in the mouth or vagina it is termed ‘thrush’), skin, and bloodstream. Symptoms can include itching, redness, soreness, and discharge, depending on the location of the infection. Treatment typically involves antifungal medication, and measures to prevent the infection from recurring may also be recommended.

The symptoms of candidiasis can vary depending on the location and severity of the infection. Here are some of the most common symptoms associated with different types of candidiasis:

1. Oral thrush: white or yellowish patches on the tongue, inner cheeks, or roof of the mouth, redness and soreness, difficulty swallowing.

2. Genital candidiasis (yeast infection): itching, burning sensation, soreness, redness, and swelling in the vagina or vulva, pain during intercourse or urination, and a white or grayish discharge.

3. Cutaneous candidiasis: red, itchy, and sometimes painful rash in areas where skin touches the skin, such as armpits, groin, and under the breasts.

4. Invasive candidiasis: fever and chills, low blood pressure, rapid heart rate, difficulty breathing, organ failure, and other symptoms depending on the affected organ system.

5. Other more generalized symptoms may include canker sores, sore throat, a constant cough, cramps, bladder infections, depression, brain fog, and low immune function

It’s important to note that some people with candidiasis may not experience any symptoms, especially those with weakened immune systems

Treatments:

1. Maintain good hygiene: Keep the affected area clean and dry, and avoid tight-fitting clothing that traps moisture and promotes fungal growth. Try to wear white cotton underwear to avoid increased perspiration

2. Use probiotics: Eating probiotic-rich foods or taking probiotic supplements may help restore the balance of good bacteria in the body, which can prevent candida overgrowth.

3. Apply tea tree oil: Diluted tea tree oil may have antifungal properties that can help treat cutaneous candidiasis. However, it’s important to test the oil on a small patch of skin first, as it may cause irritation in some people.

4. Use coconut oil: Applying coconut oil to the affected area may help soothe itching and inflammation associated with candidiasis. Coconut oil also has antifungal properties that may help fight the infection.

5. Adjust your diet: Some studies suggest that limiting sugar and refined carbohydrates in your diet may help prevent candida overgrowth. Eating a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains may also help support a healthy immune system.

6. To prevent recurring reinfections in the mouth replace your toothbrush every month.

7. Intravenous ozone therapy

7. Colostrum Plus – a powerful immune enhancer Candidiasis is caused by an overgrowth of the fungus Candida. While Candida is naturally present in the human body and usually does not cause harm, certain factors can trigger an overgrowth and lead to candidiasis. Here are some of the most common causes of candidiasis:

Causes:

1. Weakened immune system: People with weakened immune systems, such as those with HIV/AIDS, cancer, or autoimmune diseases, are more susceptible to candidiasis.

2. Antibiotics: Antibiotics can kill both harmful and beneficial bacteria in the body, disrupting the balance of microorganisms and allowing Candida to overgrow.Hormonal changes: Hormonal changes during pregnancy, menstruation, or menopause can increase the risk of vaginal candidiasis.

3. Diabetes: High blood sugar levels associated with diabetes can create an environment that promotes candida overgrowth.

4. Sexual activity: Sexual activity can introduce bacteria and other microorganisms to the vagina, increasing the risk of vaginal candidiasis.

5. Poor hygiene: Poor hygiene, especially in areas where skin touches skin, can create an environment that promotes fungal growth.

6. Certain medications: Certain medications, such as corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, can increase the risk of candidiasis.

7. Medical procedures: Certain medical procedures, such as chemotherapy, dialysis, and organ transplantation, can weaken the immune system and increase the risk of candidiasis.

Underlying Emotions:

Feelings of anger, frustration, and resentment. Feeling deprived of love during childhood.

Diet:

1. Avoid sugar and refined carbohydrates: Candida feeds on sugar, so it’s important to limit sugar intake and avoid refined carbohydrates such as white bread, pasta, and rice.

2. Limit alcohol and caffeine: Alcohol and caffeine can disrupt the balance of bacteria in the gut and weaken the immune system, so it’s best to limit or avoid these substances.

3. Increase fiber intake: Fiber-rich foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, can help support a healthy gut microbiome and promote regular bowel movements.

4. Include probiotics: Eating probiotic-rich foods such as yogurt, kefir, and sauerkraut can help restore the balance of good bacteria in the gut, which may help prevent candida overgrowth.

5. Consider antifungal foods: Some foods, such as garlic, coconut oil, and apple cider vinegar, may have antifungal properties that can help fight candida.
