Cold pressed hemp seed oil is made from the seeds of the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa). The seeds are cold pressed to ensure that the temperature sensitive poly-unsaturated fats (Omega 3 & 6) are preserved. Please note that the oil from the hemp seeds contains only trace amounts of THC – the psychoactive component of the hemp plant (see note below) Hemp seed oil has a distinctive nutty taste and aroma and is a clear dark green colour. Hemp seed oil has a high polyunsaturated fatty acid content with a unique content ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 of 1:3, which is often described. The oil is preferably kept in fridge or in a cool space away from light, in order to preserve the healthy fatty acids.

Cold pressed Hemp Seed oil is primarily used as a nutritional supplement. The oil is a valuable source of plant based Omega 3’s (Alpha-linolenic acid), Omega 6 and Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), and therefore the application of heat (cooking & baking) should be avoided. The oil can be added to smoothies, salads, or consumed as is.
