Golden Seal

This herb which derives its name from the rich yellow of the root, is related to the buttercup and is native to North America.  The primary benefit of goldenseal is its overall effect on immunity. It has antibiotic properties. By taking goldenseal on the onset of a cold or flu may prevent or greatly reduce the illness from fully developing.  It promotes healing of mouth ulcers, cold sores and shingles (caused by the herpes virus). It helps to destroy the virus that causes warts.  Goldenseal fights bacteria thereby helping urinary tract infections. Used as an eye wash, it can be used in the treating of eye infections.
