Sinusitis

Sinusitis is an inflammation of the nasal sinuses (Sinuses are small air-filled pockets in the bones that are connected to the nasal cavity and throat by passages that drain mucus away). Inflammation of the sinuses is usually caused by viral/bacterial infections or allergic reactions.1. Acute sinus symptoms that last 2-4 weeks are likely to have two or more of the following symptoms (often accompanied by a thick, green, or yellow nasal discharge):
a. Pain or pressure in the facial area
b. A stuffy runny nose often with a loss of smell
c. A cough
d. Fever (usually low grade)
e. Dental pain

2. Chronic sinus symptoms that last for 12 or more weeks may include:
a. Congestion or a feeling of fullness in the facial area.
b. A nasal blockage or obstruction may be present
c. Pus may be present in the nasal cavity
d. Fever
e. Discolored postnasal drainage accompanied by a runny nose
f. Dental pain
g. Fatigue1. Diet (Always check for food sensitivities or allergies): Avoiding sugar, dairy products, eggs, wheat, and corn will assist with allergy-related sinus.

2. Try mixing this solution for sinus relief (saltwater kills bacteria). Method: Mix 1 cup of warm water with half a teaspoon of sea salt and a pinch of bicarbonate of soda. Using a dropper, squeeze bottle, or Netti pot instill the mixed solution into each nostril three or four times a day.

3. Inhaling steam that has been infused with eucalyptus or rosemary oil may bring relief. Method: Add boiling water to a suitable container and add a few drops of eucalyptus or rosemary oil. Position your face (approx 15cm) over the container and inhale the steam, placing a dry towel over your head and the water-filled container will help capture the steam. This may be repeated three or four times a day.

4. Gravity method to drain sinuses: lie flat on your back with your head hanging over the side of the bed for 5-10 minutes.

5. For pain relief try placing a warm wet facecloth over the affected area for one minute, then exchange the warm facecloth with a cold one for 30 seconds do this three times.

6. Colloidal silver nasal sprays (colloidal silver is a powerful natural antibiotic, If the mucous is yellow or green an infection is probably present).

7. Avoid smoking/vaping or inhaling secondhand smoke.

8. Using a humidifier moistens the air in your home or office which can help, ease the symptoms of sinusitis.

9. Conventional antibiotics may be prescribed for bacterial infections (If the mucous is yellow or green an infection is probably present). NOTE: After the course of antibiotics is finished it is important to take a probiotic

10. Polyps or benign cysts that form in the sinuses may require surgical intervention to remove them. For severe chronic sinus, endoscopic surgery may be required to clear the nasal passages.

13. Sinugraine – helps in the management of headaches associated with sinusitis and nasal congestion.Sinusitis is either acute or chronic. The common cold (a viral infection) is responsible for many acute sinusitis infections of the upper respiratory tract, nose, and throat. Acute sinusitis may start suddenly and last from up to 2 to 4 weeks. Bacterial infections account for at least 50% of all acute sinus infections. Chronic sinusitis can be caused by smoking, air pollution, irritants in the form of fumes, growths in the nose (nasal polyps), and injury to the nasal bones. In some cases, an underlying dental infection may be the culprit, If in doubt, consult a dentist, these symptoms can last 12 weeks or more. Hay fever and food allergies/sensitivities are responsible for allergic sinusitis. In theory, suppressed grief may be responsible for sinus. When we cry during expressions of grief, the physiological response is tearing from the eyes and for the nose to run. When we have finished crying, the mucous membranes in the nose and sinuses return to normal. If grief is not expressed or suppressed by not crying, the mucous membranes remain chronically inflamed.

Sinus may also result from early childhood where we are constantly told “Don’t cry”, this failure to cry may result in sinusitis in later years.

In general, sinusitis may be due to grief, loss, and sadness. 1. In general avoid dairy products (Dairy products may make sinusitis worse by producing more mucus), also avoid eggs, wheat, corn, and sugar.

2. Certain foods seem to be more likely to cause sinusitis (Food allergies). Eliminating potential allergy foods from the diet is a good way to determine if one or several of them are responsible (Blood group eating charts may assist with pinpointing specific trigger foods for your blood group). Keeping a food journal will be very beneficial to track progress. After eliminating all the potential trigger foods from the diet a few at a time, note down if the symptoms have gone away. One food at a time can now be reintroduced to see if the symptoms reoccur. A new food would be introduced each week.

3. Ensure that you drink at least 8 cups of filtered water daily, as well as diluted vegetable juices, soups, and herb teas. Respiratory SystemSinus remedy, Allergy remedy, Silver nasal spray, NAC, Probiotics, multi vits, Quercetin & Bromelain, Buffered vitamin C, Vitamin B Complex
