This is a small evergreen shrub which is also known as bearberry. The leaves are astringent and have a high tannin content.  Its properties are that it is a diuretic, a urinary antiseptic and an astringent. It is used for cystitis, together with soothing herbal remedies such as marshmallow. Together with horsetail or nettle for irritable bladder with persistent frequency.
